LIBERIA
Below is a letter from Rev. Morrison Wleh in Liberia. He is one of our main contacts in that country.
Dear Rev. Paige:Greetings in Christ.
We had a very successful annual conference with many delegates from the following confernces: Oklahoma, Detroit, Holston, Norway, Germany, the Newly elected Bishop of Sierra Leone Conference and the former Bishop of LAC, the Rev. Dr. Bannie D. Warner.

On Sunday evening, 22nd of February, I will be taking back Nana Kru delegations to Sinoe with our newly purchased vehicle(Used) with funds from the Vermilion River District. Then be back on Wednesday, February 25 for cabinet meeting on 27 of February with the Bishop. I will inform the district of your departure as district superintendent at our fisrt gathering in March and the people will not be happy. But this how the UMC works. All what you need to do is praying for one another for a successful ministry, good health and long life. Indeed, we will surely miss you as DS but not as personal friend. |
Mary and the children are doing well and God grace is with us always. Sad news from the conference: At the end of our conference, rogue broke into the room through the window in Gbarnga and took away my camera, conference documents, including 2 cell phones. Anyway, the case was reported to the local CID in Gbarnga. Whatever it was, we pray God because my life was at risk at that moment.
May God guide us always as we do ministry together.
Your brother in Christ,
Morrison
Heritage and Liberia
Heritage has always been interested and involved in the church in Liberia. Now we have been assigned a specific church in that Country. It is the Gwissken UM church in Grand Gedeh county which appears to be one of the largest counties in Liberia. This country is located on the western coast of Africa on the Atlantic Ocean. Due to a long civil war now over, in many parts of the country there is a lack of running water and electricity. We ask for prayers for the sister church we have been assigned and for the Pastor of this church, Rev. Samson Dartu. Also pray for the new leader of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf. She is the first woman to be elected the leader of an African nation. She is a Harvard-educated banker and so, her supporters say she was the perfect person to get the economy of Liberia up and running. Our District raised a total of $25,073.13 for Liberia and it has been sent to the Liberia Annual Conference of Grand Gedeh, Nana Kru and Sinoe districts. time.

NEW MISSION LETTER FROM THE KRUEGERS
Dear Praying friends, August 2010
     We are now back in
Guinea in our little town after what seems like a whirlwind time there in the U.S. We sincerely enjoyed our time speaking in churches in the Midwest district.  We ministered also to a great many of our Latin American brothers and sisters while in the Northeastern states. We had some great times with churches in the Southeastern district and even got to minister to some of our Canadian brethren while up in Alberta, Canada
. All that in just six months!!
We welcome all of you joining our email network now for the first time. Our hope is that you will also join us in prayer with our long time prayer partners.
We had a great time too with our families. Spending time with  them again.
Now we are back with many of old friends and colleagues here and trying to be the Light of the Gospel that God desires us to be in this needy place. We had a brief two weeks with our partner's JD and Emily and family before they left the end of July to begin a year of Home Ministry. We miss them already but know that they will be used of the Lord for promoting the work here. They had the joy of seeing one of their soccer team players accept the gift of salvation just before their departure and also about that same time we prayed with one of our long time friends here to also accept God's greatest gift. We believe that God is beginning to bring a harvest to this land. This is happening in the midst of a political reformation of the government as the country is holding elections for president this summer.
We have several different opportunities to show Christ's love here, one way has been through
Dee
's English classes which she has just restarted this past week. Another way is through care of sick and burn patients that come to our door for help. We are  really wanting to seek God's desires for our ministry for these next two years, not just doing what comes at us. We have decided that we are going to make prayer a priority and spend time daily seeking His desire and then let the day flow from His direction. Please pray that we will be able to continue to do this when others and especially Satan would try to derail us from this.
There have been some nice surprises and some not so nice ones for us since getting back. We arrived here and found out that the town power station had a major technical problem and so there has been no power now for the past three months. So we are having to rely on our solar powered system for the present and that can be difficult in the rainy season when it is cloudy a good part of the day. That also means not having a freezer so we have to plan our meals around ingredients we can use fresh or canned to prepare them. We had a nice surprise in learning that we can now do internet from a little memory stick type of modem from the cell phone company. It is not fast but it works right from our home.
Dee
has had several health issues that have been plaguing her since our return. The latest was that she was stung by a scorpion on Friday while out visiting the shortwave radio site. She had a lot of pain for the first 6 hours but God answered prayer and she was able to sleep. Today it is continuing to get better but still not quite back to normal. We are sensing that Satan wants to use these different ailments to discourage and distract us from what God is doing here. So we ask you to join us in prayer for the following requests.

Prayer Points:
Pray for us to remain focused and attentive to what God is leading or directing us to do.
Pray for the right Pular speaker to help us record Oral Bible stories.
Pray for health and safety as we serve here.Praise God for those that He is leading to Himself. Pray for good discipleship for them.
Pray for divine opportunities through our various ongoing activities(English classes, computer center, medical ministries).
Praise God that our daughter Rachel was able to find employment.
Pray for all of our children as they seek God's guidance as they take the next steps in their careers.
Thanks so much for supporting us through your gifts and prayers. We cannot do this work alone, we need you to be alert and prayerful for the work here in
Guinea. May God bless us all as we serve Him faithfully.  Your financial support helps keep more than 800 workers with CMA on their fields of service.  Address: Christian & missionary Alliance,
Box 35000, Colorado Springs, CO. 80935-3500

August 2010-Hindman's Letter-
Dear Friends in Christ,
We are thankful to the Lord for you - our family, friends, and partners in the Lord’s work. We are very sorry and we apologize that this letter, begun in early May, has been so long in being finished and sent to you.
An accident on May 19th changed much in our world. Ross was trimming some limbs from a tree in our back yard, the ladder shifted and he fell, suffering a compound fracture of his right tibia and fibula.
In that event and many that have followed, we have been reminded once again of God’s sovereignty, trustworthiness, and faithfulness. Though housebound for most of the summer, Ross because of the injury followed by complications and Ellen as his caregiver 24/7, we rejoice that we have once again been to the well of God’s provision to drink deeply and know that HE IS. What a privilege.
Here is a quick recap of the events. A call to 911 brought the emergency team to transport Ross to the trauma unit where in surgery his leg was set with external pins. A second surgery was done two days later to clean and debride the wound and suture it. He was discharged to home from hospital on day seven. He was totally non-weight bearing on the right foot and he had a physical therapist from Visiting Nurses Association to teach him to get around with a walker. All seemed to be progressing well until infection set into the bone at one of the pin sites which required another surgery. A referral to an infectious disease specialist has brought Ross to a six to eight week course of daily IV antibiotics for the osteomyelitis and his most recent check-up with the orthopedic surgeon has given the date of September 3 for the removal of the pins. Ross’s progress has been rapid once the infection was begun to be dealt with and now we are thanking God that the end is in sight.
Ross’s accident brought his local teaching/preaching activities to an abrupt halt for the summer and of course he has done no traveling. As we move into the fall months he will resume teaching a class in our local church, preaching in a long term care/ rehabilitation center, teaching a bi-monthly small group study, speaking at a missions conference in New Jersey in October and whatever else the Lord would give him to do.
Just a month prior to Ross’s fall, Ellen’s father, Bernard C. Mote, 90 years old, passed away. Her dad’s passing and Ross’s accident have called for her to consciously draw strength and wisdom from the Lord to meet each day’s challenges.
There will need to be some rehabilitation time for Ross to re-learn to walk properly. His trips overseas will have to be scheduled accordingly, but he does hope to return to both France and Senegal within the next nine months to teach and work with the directors of both schools to plan and strategize for their on-going ministry.
Perhaps you recall that Ross made a teaching trip to Nagaland , India last November and that he was asked to help them develop a new cross-cultural missions program for the college there in Pfutsero. Via the internet they have been able to complete the first phase of their planning. Having initially desired to have a program ready by June of this year, they are now looking to launch the program in the coming months.
The second phase of planning is now being done to finalize the choice of curriculum and to determine in what format the courses will be taught - formal classroom, informal, experiential – to insure that the goals set for the students will be realized. Please pray for this important phase in planning.
This program will train students from various countries in Asia for cross-cultural missionary work to a number of un-reached territories. Prayer covering for these students will be vital as many of the areas to which they will go will be hostile to the arrival of the gospel of Christ.
As we put these words down for you to read we are rejoicing to have both Joel and Nathanael home for a few days of leave from their Marine Corps duty posts and we are awaiting a phone call at any time to tell us that Rachel and Josh are on their way to the hospital for the arrival of grandchild number eight. We are blessed and thankful!
God bless you all abundantly in Jesus!

                        RED BIRD MISSION
"A Witness for Christ in the Heart of Appalachia"
Red Bird mission is an agency in the Red Bird Missionary Conference related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. The Mission was founded in 1921 on the Red Bird River in Bell County, Kentucky to serve residents of Clay, Leslie and Bell counties. Red Bird Mission provides Educational, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach, Community Housing Improvement, and Economic Opportunities to the elderly, low-income and those in need.
Students are given the opportunity to learn in a positive school environment that is staffed with teachers that have a heart for mission. This attitude is introduced in early Childhood Development and continues through Elementary, Middle and High School. Students take courses that include advanced math and science courses, business technology, industrial technology, Spanish art, and music courses that include band and choir. They have the opportunity to participate in all the extracurricular activities that are available to all other schools. Christian Education courses and programs are integrated into the curriculum of all grades. Bible stories, courses, devotions, chapel services, and special programs are used for this training. The goal of Red Bird Mission is to educate a student in body, mind, and spirit to be a productive person equipped to bring change into the lives of others. Prayers and volunteer's are greately appreciated.
