UMW
United Methodist Women have an ongoing Mission outreach throughout the year with a membership of 32. Meetings are held bimonthly with a special Prayer and Self Denial program each year at which time a special offering is given which is used to help finance women and children needs in poverty areas of the world. Members particiapate in a Secret Sister program with a catered dinner in October. A reading program is also encouraged. During the year health, sewing and school kits are put together and in October they are taken to the District meeting to later be shipped to a distribution point where they are then sent to wherever there is a need.
Below for your convenience are listed the items needed for Health, School and Sewing Kits. A drive is made annually in October for these kits and over 1000 were made by members from the Port Huron District this year. This is an ongoing year around outreach in which the UMW is involved. Our church took nine school kits, nine health kits and six sewing kits to the Annual meeting held at Bad Axe this year.

LIBERIA
Heritage has always been interested and involved in the church in Liberia. Now we have been assigned a specific church in that Country. It is the Gwissken UM church in Grand Gedeh county which appears to be one of the largest counties in Liberia. This country located on the western coast of Africa on the Atlantic Ocean, has been ravished with civil war for the past 14 years and in many parts of the country there is a lack of running water and electricity. We ask for prayers for the sister church we have been assigned and for the Pastor of this church, Rev. Samson Dartu. Also pray for the new leader of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf who was recently elected. She is the first woman to be elected the leader of an African nation. She is a Harvard-educated banker and so, her supporters say she was the perfect person to get the economy of Liberia up and running. Others also said the country needed a healing, woman's touch after being destroyed by the men.
LIBERIA MISSION TRIP REPORT
The Mission team from the District that went to Liberia were not able to visit the Grand Gedeh District where our assigned church is located because of the rainy season which made the roads impassable. However, their new District Superintendent, Rev. Fannah T. Tartieh, was able to travel to Monrovia to greet the team. There is a great need for the rebuilding of churches, parsonages and schools that were destroyed during the civil war. It is hoped that we will be able to send work teams to aid in construction and also medical and educational teams sometime in 2008. This is in the planning stages now. The visit gave them hope that they were not forgotten. More recently we have a way now to be in touch with the district superintendents from each of the three districts by Email. However, they have to travel to Monrovia (The Capital City) to receive the mail and pay for time at the cafe to download the messages. We can contact the District Superintendent from our Distirct, Rev. Fannah Tartieh at :
revfannah@yahoo.com Also now, Liberia has a Radio Station. Although it is just a small 300 watt service, the United Methodists are now broadcasting in Monrovia. They currently broadcast during the daytime hours until 5:00 PM. Through it messages of healing, love and reconciliation will be broadcast to bring encouragement to the people.

LATEST KRUEGER UPDATE-April 12, 2008
Greetings from Guinea, West Africa!
It's a bright sunny day here.  It was 62 degrees this morning but will be 102 by mid afternoon.   This is the end of dry season here, four more weeks to go before it rains.  Certain flowers that bloom only in this season are brilliant  in contrast to the brown of the grass and bushes.  People are in dire straits.  Their food reserves are desperately low.  Any reserve of money must be saved for seed and fertilizer when the rains come.  People are doing their best to just survive.  It's hard to realize the struggle for life in other countries till you see their need in front of you. One lady just left here, fed and with the medicine she needs.  We also read to her the story of the sick lady in the Bible who said to herself, " If I could just touch the him of his garment, I will be made whole."  We explained how we can come to Christ and find healing for body and soul.  We prayed for her to have faith in God.  Now we pray that God will heal her and show Himself to her.  Please join with us in prayer for her and her family.  We call her  Neene, which means Mother.

We also have another prayer request.  We have been doing our best to get the mobile clinic up and running.  We have run into two glitches.....the health department has turned down our request several times saying our request wasn't specific enough.  This is a ploy they use to extract bribes from people.  He wants Mark to give him a  computer we think or money, but we don't give bribes.  So we are
asking our prayer partners to join us in prayer. If this is God's will that we get into more of a medical ministry, may He open this guys heart to give the needed permission.    Secondly, we just found out that the government has made a new ruling that each medical work is required to have a licensed Guinean medical person on the pay roll.  We need to check on what exactly the ruling is and pray for the right person to join us.  It could be a blessing or could be a real hindrance. YOUR PRAYERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!  So please join with us in prayer as we seek for God's direction and an open door.

Let us know what is going on Stateside and keep us informed on prayer issues at church.  We take an extended time on Wednesday for prayer.  It is such a privilege to bring our requests to the Almighty God and know that He hears us.   Praise God for you who will stand with us in prayer to see the nations come to Him!    May He hear your requests and  answer abundantly.  May the answers He sends cause us to rejoice greatly and bring much glory to the Lord our God!  I so long to see God working  with power in our midst...don't you?  Little prayer equals little results.  Lot's of prayer equals lots of results.  "Without Me you can do nothing," He told us.  SO let's pray greatly and see God's hand move greatly in our midst!  YOUR PRAYERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
We long to hear from you all.

Your missionary co-workers,
Mark and Dee Krueger

RED BIRD MISSION
"A Witness for Christ in the Heart of Appalachia"
Red Bird mission is an agency in the Red Bird Missionary Conference related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. The Mission was founded in 1921 on the Red Bird River in Bell County, Kentucky to serve residents of Clay, Leslie and Bell counties. Red Bird Mission provides Educational, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach, Community Housing Improvement, and Economic Opportunities to the elderly, low-income and those in need.
Students are given the opportunity to learn in a positive school environment that is staffed with teachers that have a heart for mission. This attitude is introduced in early Childhood Development and continues through Elementary, Middle and High School. Students take courses that include advanced math and science courses, business technology, industrial technology, Spanish art, and music courses that include band and choir. They have the opportunity to participate in all the extracurricular activities that are available to all other schools. Christian Education courses and programs are integrated into the curriculum of all grades. Bible stories, courses, devotions, chapel services, and special programs are used for this training. The goal of Red Bird Mission is to educate a student in body, mind, and spirit to be a productive person equipped to bring change into the lives of others. Prayers and volunteer's are greately appreciated.
